are many pros and cons regarding digital vs. analog camera collection.
In the analog process where a framed camera is used, the film is processed in a
traditional method, the frames are then viewed manually and checked and scanned
for use in orthophotography and soft copy photogrammetric mapping.

In the digital method, the process is similar, but it does not require the film
processing or scanning because the data is digital. There are other advantages
that limit the zooming, accuracy and pixel resolution to the size of the lens
for analog vs. electronic/software zooms in the digital environment. The digital
camera is an overlay of red, green, blue and infrared coloring which creates
interesting, useful by-products while the analog camera’s color is restricted to
an emulsion process, though the scanned photos can be digitally enhanced.
Digital cameras are very expensive, but give clear, sharp imagery and are a more
expensive process than analog.
Once again, the difference in cost is a result of the type of equipment,
aircraft, operator’s ability and general company overhead.
